Time Flies!

I can hardly believe it's been over a month since we returned from Puerto Rico. I don't know about you, but it seems to me like time passes awfully quickly anymore, and many times there aren't enough hours in the day. I also struggle with the fact that I seem to be wearing out more easily all the time.

If you haven't gotten a chance to read about our trip to Puerto Rico, you can get the news by reading the February -March 2009 Puerto Rican Mission Trip If you'd like to know what the greatest needs are before we can finish the project in Mayaguez, please see the Opportunities for Participation page where I've shared most of the details about what we're waiting for the Lord to provide before we'll be able to complete that project.

Moving On--

Oh well, we are home now and all that was done in Puerto Rico is in the past.

So, what's in the future, you might ask?

Well that will depend on God's leading, as well as His supplying our needs. We have several possibilities, along with the things that are already scheduled.

Some will probably depend on how much it will take to repair the roof in our bedroom. Apparently we have had a leak for some time now, and along with replacing a few squares of roof shingles we will also have to replace a good portion of the wall. In an effort to correct the problem we've also needed to make some modifications to the eves in that portion of the house.

We thought we could share good news that the problem was isolated and could be fixed as soon as the rain stopped, but after another two days of rain, once more we have wet spots on the ceiling.

So, for the fourth time, the contractor and I will be attempting to figure out what is causing the problem. This time we'll be crawling through the attic, later today, to see if we can figure out where the water is getting in at.

Please pray with us that the Lord will give us the wisdom to know what is causing the problem so that we can get it completely fixed. Then it won't continue to cause problems in the future.

We hope this can be done quickly and economically so we can take a couple of weeks to visit family and friends in North and South Carolina during the second and third weeks of May.

We'd really like to make this trip, we've been planning to visit that part of the country for over a year now, but something always seems to come up to hinder our plans.

In early summer we'll be attending family camp at Northland the second week of June. This year we will only have our nieces and nephew with us. The work schedules and conflicts of other activities will interfere with our children and grandchildren joining us this summer.

In July, finances permitting, we will likely go back to Ecuador to wire the second story of the church in Quito. We are looking forward to seeing the Regiers again, along with all those who were so gracious to us the last time we were there. We're also hoping to avoid the rainy season this time.

Prayer Requests

The schedule is pretty full, and we have other possibilities besides these that we are working on. Pray with us that God will show us his will. There are many needs and we must use our talents and abilities wisely.

I realize that God gives us the strength and ability to do His will. But we sometimes want to get ahead of Him. When we do, we usually find ourselves in a less than ideal situation!

Our spirit truly is willing, but the older I get, the more I realize that my physical abilities are not always what they used to be. Please continue to pray for the Lord's enabling.

Finally, please pray for missions and the missionaries also. As the economy continues to tighten, so do the funds that support their work. Travel expenses are up, and the cost of food has almost doubled in the last year. We really noticed these things on our last trip to Puerto Rico. These facts alone could affect our ability to minister.

I am truly comforted in these days, as I see what's happening in our country, that God is still working through His people. We continue to thank you, and the Lord, for your prayers and support of our ministry.
